Government Executive Leads 2019 Federal Media Rankings Seven Years in a Row
Government Executive takes the top spot in Top Federally-Focused Site and Go-To Government-Focused News Source categories of the 2019 Federal Media and Marketing Study
Washington, D.C. (November 4, 2019) — At the annual Market Connections Federal Media and Marketing Event last Thursday, Market Connections announced that Government Executive Media Group’s (GEMG) federal government news brand, Government Executive, was ranked the number one federally-focused site for the seventh year in a row. In the new category “Go-To Government-Focused News Source,” Government Executive was also named the number one brand. The annual study, conducted by independent research firm Market Connections, featured Government Executive as the most preferred federally-focused site and the number one go-to government-focused news source.
Not only did Government Executive rank first in two prominent categories of this study, it also was the only national brand to rank amongst the top properties for both audience engagement and trust. As the most-read federally-focused website, Government Executive was the clear frontrunner amongst all websites included with a nearly 10% difference between Government Executive and the number two most-read website. In the category of go-to government-focused news source, Government Executive outperformed all other media outlets considered (including brands that have both print and digital publications), coming in 43% higher than the next-best media property.
Nextgov, GEMG’s Federal IT publication, was also featured in the study as the number one federal IT-focused site– it’s 7th consecutive year atop this category — and was the only federal IT site to be included in the top ten federally-focused sites.
“I am incredibly proud of Government Executive Media Group’s sustained performance in the annual study,” said Tim Hartman the CEO of Government Executive Media Group. “I believe these results are a true testament to the hard work and dedication of our talented editorial teams.”
Over 200 media outlets were considered in this year’s study, including outlets such as Politico, Defense News, and Federal Times, with nearly 3,000 federal decision-makers surveyed and both Nextgov and Government Executive retained their top rankings for the seventh consecutive year.
